“SAMART” proudly announces SAMTEL's impressive performance with over 10 billion baht in revenue and nearly doubled profit.

SAMART Group of Companies posted total revenue of 19,964 million baht for 2011, while registering a 34 per cent surge of profit. Particularly, Samart Telcom Plc or SAMTEL had total revenue of 10,226 million baht with an almost 100 per cent rise in net profit in the previous year. Thanks to such superior performance, the company is ready to seek an opportunity to extend its ICT outsourcing to generate regular revenue. The Group also announced dividend payments of its three subsidiaries, expressing its confidence that the Group's combined profit will exceed one billion baht in 2012. Mr. Watchai Vilailuck, President for Samart Corporation Plc, unveiled its 2011 operating performance. "The Group managed to have a successful operating performance in the prior year despite of late last year's floods which unavoidably provided direct effects on purchasing power of consumers and mobile phone sales. Other businesses of the Group have not been affected by the floods at larger scales. These include concessions and projects with long-term contracts. Because of those mentioned above, the Group continued to enjoy rises in the overall earnings performance in both revenue and profit when compared with results in 2010. Briefly, in 2011, the SAMART Group of Companies registered total revenue of 19,964 million baht, up 23 per cent and net profit of 836 million baht, up 34 per cent. The Board of Directors recently approved dividend payments from 2011 operating performance of Samart Corporation Plc, Samart Telcom Plc and Smart i-mobile Plc at 0.30 baht per share, 0.36 baht per share and 0.01 baht per share, respectively. During the year, Samart Corporation Plc and. Samart Telcom Plc already made interim dividend payments at 0.22 baht per share and 0.30 baht per share, respectively, during the year. Among all businesses, the ICT Solutions Group recorded the highest revenue growth. Being driven by Samart Telcom, the ICT Solutions reached a new high in revenue at 10,226 million baht. Its net profit soared nearly 100 per cent to 791 million baht. Long-term projects and tens of newly-auctioned projects in 2011 were cited for sources of revenue. These projects included the Third-Generation (3G) Wireless Broadband Network Installation for TOT, School Net – Second Phase, Land Information Technology Development, AMR Project’s Extension for Provincial Electricity Authority, and IT System Installation for the Minister of Defence. At the end of 2011, the ICT Solutions Group had more than 11,000 million baht worth of its projects in hand. It will continue making bids for over 10 projects worth totaling 40,000 million baht in 2012. Samart Telcom sets its target of revenue growth at no less than 50 per cent in 2012. With Samart i-mobile Plc, the Mobile – Multimedia Group booked total revenue of 7,002 million baht and net profit of 84 million baht in 2011. Content business remained its profitable cash cow, generating total revenue of 973 million baht in 2011, up 8 per cent from the earlier year. We are confident that this business would record consistent growth rates. It will shine more if the 3G Network is installed nationwide. The company is well-prepared for development of new content services. It also teams up with its business partners to offer digital content services through a variety of communications channels to widely reach all groups of consumers. Apart from maintaining its top position in the voice and non-voice market, the company targets to boost its content revenue by 20 per cent this year. The Related Businesses extend from One To One Contacts Co., Ltd., Samart Engineering Co., Ltd. and Vision to Security System Co., Ltd. with the combined revenue of 2,000 million baht in 2011, up 35 per cent from a year earlier. Call center and closed circuit television camera system are gaining popularity with certain growth potentials. Their revenue combined is expected to increase by 10 per cent in 2012. Lastly, the Utilities Services Group consists of Cambodia Air Traffic Services Co., Ltd., Kampot Power Plant Co., Ltd., Suvarnabhumi Environment Care Co., Ltd. and SAMART RadiTech Co., Ltd. This group continues to generate regular revenue for the SAMART Group with a 10 per cent rise in the former’s total revenue to 1,108 million baht. Specifically, Cambodia Air Traffic Services’ air traffic control center in Cambodia witnessed an 11 per cent increase in total revenue thanks to more flights and an increase of service fees in 2011. “In the year of 2012, the SAMART Group of Companies is expected to grow continuously on the back of ongoing 3G Network Installation. Such will expand other marketing activities, including MVNO services, sales of smartphone and other portable communications equipment in replacement of older-generation mobile phones, digital content services, and new solutions to SIM 3G for the public and private sectors’ administration and services. To cope with its target for generating regular revenue, the company draws out a certain plan to penetrate the ICT Outsourcing. The company is also conducting a study and having preparation for its expansion of the air traffic control business in the neighboring countries, including Myanmar and Laos. We see the opportunity and feel confident in the company’s capability in investment and experience. However, it will be some time before disclosing the project progress,” Mr. Watchai noted.
