TEDA Secures Bt3.2bn Substation Deals,Backlog Hits Bt3.7bn

TEDA has won more than Bt3.2 billion in large-scale substation construction contracts over the past three quarters, pushing its project backlog to Bt3.7 billion and reinforcing its expansion momentum as it prepares for a new round of infrastructure bids.
The company recently received the “Outstanding Partner Award 2025” from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), recognizing its consistent delivery, operational quality, and adherence to performance and safety standards.
A subsidiary of Samart Group, TEDA specializes in end-to-end construction management for high-voltage transmission line and substation projects. It is 94 per cent owned by Samart U-Trans.
Mr. Watchai Vilailuck, Executive Vice Chairman of Corporate Strategy and New Business Development at Samart Corporation Plc., said TEDA has secured several key contracts this year, including:
- The 500 kV Phanom Sarakham (GIS) Substation project, along with procurement and construction to upgrade the 500 kV Pluak Daeng and 500 kV Wang Noi substations under EGAT’s transmission development program for electricity purchases from Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The contract is valued at Bt1.235 billion, with construction expected to be completed within 24 months.
- An indoor GIS substation (115/11 kV) and internal 115 kV transmission line project for the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), worth Bt685 million.
- An indoor GIS substation (115/22 kV) and internal 115 kV transmission line project for PEA, valued at Bt653 million.
- The 230/115 kV Nakhon Si Thammarat (GIS) Substation project, including upgrades to the 230 kV Khanom, 230 kV Thung Song, 230 kV Phatthalung, and 115 kV Chian Yai substations. The consortium project, part of EGAT’s high-voltage infrastructure enhancement plan for southern Thailand to improve resilience against flooding and sabotage risks, has a total value exceeding Bt1.6 billion, of which TEDA’s share is over Bt640 million.
Mr. Watchai said the Bt3.2 billion in new awards has strengthened Samart Group’s consolidated backlog, which climbed to Bt17.5 billion in the first nine months of the year. He added that TEDA also has several projects pending bid results in the fourth quarter, reflecting the company’s expanding role in Thailand’s energy and utilities infrastructure.
He noted that TEDA’s five decades of expertise in high-voltage electrical systems have long underpinned its reputation for reliable, high-quality project delivery. EGAT’s presentation of the “Outstanding Partner Award 2025” further affirms this track record, recognizing contractors that meet high performance standards, deliver work on schedule, comply with safety requirements, and uphold strong governance – qualities that TEDA and Samart Group have consistently prioritized.
